DuraStyle Wood Doors Quality and Care Instructions

Thank you for choosing Masonite DuraStyle exterior doors with AquaSeal technology. AquaSeal technology incorporates a silicon base sealant factory integrated around the perimeter of each panel and pane of glass. It is our AquaSeal technology that will provide you with many years of performance and beauty. For more information, please reference the Wood Door Finishing and Care Guide.

Before finishing this door
Please inspect the area with sealant surrounding the panels and/or glass for the presence of wood dust or wood chips. If wood particles are noticeable, the particles should be removed prior to application of paint or stain. This can easily be accomplished using one of two methods:

  1. Use a soft to medium bristle brush to remove wood particles.
  2. Use a rag with mineral spirits to wipe away wood particles.

Important stain application instructions
While our AquaSeal technology implements a paintable and stainable silicon-based sealant, some paint and stain products may require additional coat(s) to be applied on the sealant to provide adequate coverage and color matching. If additional applications of finish are needed on the sealant, simply use a cotton swap stick (Q-tip) or thin foam or bristle brush.

Coastal & impact

If you don’t want to live with bulky metal frames, Masonite’s coastal products offer a difference you can see. The newly designed Hurricane-Lite™ frame looks like a standard frame but it satisfies HVHZ (High Velocity Hurricane Zone) code requirements. Hurricane-Lite frames have standard window cut-outs that will accommodate impact rated glass. This system simplifies assembly without compromising the beauty of your home.

Sound transmission

Managing and containing sound transmission is becoming more popular in both residential and commercial construction. Doors can be an important component when attempting to reduce the noise that is either entering or exiting a room or building. STCs (Sound Transmission Class) are measurements of a door’s ability to reduce the transmission of airborne noise. Higher STC values represent better noise reduction. Follow the links below for Masonite acoustical performance data.
